Here at Stockman’s Ridge in the Central West, we enjoyed some great rainfall at the beginning of the season and then the second half was hot and dry, leading to an exceptional vintage. The first grapes came off in early March with the last grapes, Shiraz, picked on the 29th of March. Most of our whites are through fermentation and they will be hitting the shelves mid to late this year so keep your eyes open for these! The reds have a long way still to travel. For those of you who like something different, this year we harvested, for the very first time, Gewürztraminer. Pronounced gevertstrameener, this is White grape from the Alsace region in France with characteristic: - FRUIT FLAVORS (berries, fruit, citrus): Lychee, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Peach, Apricot, Orange, Cantaloupe - OTHER AROMAS (herb, spice, flower, mineral, earth, other):Rose, Honey, Ginger, Incense, Allspice, Cinnamon, Smoke. We can’t wait to launch it under our new handcrafted label by the end of the year.
