4 Wines and 4 Medals!

At the 2010 Australian Boutique Wine Awards Stockman's Ridge Wines received 4 Medals from its 4 Entries.

We are delighted to see all our wines continuing to show well and to continue to improve but what we are most proud of is that is it is the first medal for our 2009 Rider Merlot Cabernet Franc in only its second show.

The medal were:

Silver - 2009 Rider Pinot Gris

Bronze - 2008 Rider Shiraz

Bronze - 2008 Rider Merlot

Bronze - 2009 Rider Merlot Cabernet Franc

Good crimson hue, although not entirely bright; typical cool climate shiraz with bright fruit, spice and pepper notes; well handled oak and tannin inputs.

Stockman's Ridge Wine gets 3.5 stars in 2011 Australian Wine Companion

We are pleased announced that we have made our first appearence in the Australian Wine Companion and have recieved a 3.5 star rating.

Jonathan Hambrook purchased what he aptly named Stockman's Ridge in 2002. Situated 20 km north of Bathurst at 900 m above sea level, it has spectacular views to the south. Since it was acquired, barely a month has gone by without activities involving the Hambrook family. A cherry orchard was established, cattle grazing commenced, a 1 million litre dam completed, and sequential planting throughout 2004 and '05 with shiraz, pinot gris, pinot noir and savagnin the varieties chosen. Over and above this, Jonathan has leased two vineyards in Orange planted to merlot, shiraz, pinot gris and sauvignon blanc. While he has no formal winemaking qualifications, he is able to draw on advice from David Lowe (Lowe Family Wines), Mark Renzaglia (Winburndale Wines) and Phil Kerney (Ross Hill).

We are please again to announce that we have recieved a Silver and Bronze at the 2010 Winewise Small Vigneron Awards.

The 2010 Small Vigneron Awards were limited to producers who crushed 250 tonnes or less for their own label in the 2010 vintage. Judging by one of Australia's most experienced panels was undertaken according to the highest Australian show standards. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were allocated and Trophies awarded to the best varietals and blends. Winewise recommend all medals winners to our subscribers.
